(A) About SBI Multicap Fund

SBI Multicap is another opportunistic fund from the house of SBI Mutual Fund. SBI Multicap Cap Fund is for those Investors who are looking to invest money for at least 3-4 years and looking for higher returns.

The fund has 89.06% investment in domestic equities of which 29.59% is in Large Cap stocks, 14.5% is in Mid Cap stocks, 18.68% in Small Cap stocks.

(D) Performance of the Investment till now

SBI Multi-cap Fund is an absolutely newly Launched fund. It is launched in March, 2022. Due to Market Turmoil and Macro Global effects stocks steeply corrected, which resulted in negative performance.

Even, the investor who is looking to invest in the fund for a longer perspective, should not be afraid of these falls because the fund has not even passed 1 Year.

So, past performance cannot be considered for evaluating future prospects.

The scheme seeks to provide investors with opportunities for long term growth in capital from a diversified portfolio of equity and equity related instruments across market capitalization.

(G) Fund Managers : Mr. Mohit Jain and Mr. R Srinivasan

(i) Mr. Mohit Jain

Mr. Jain is B.E (Engineering) & CFA (Level III candidate). Prior to joining SBI Mutual Fund, he has worked with Crisil Ltd. as a Research Analyst. In Fact, except SBI Multicap He is also Managing SBI International Access – US Equity FoF – Regular Plan – since Mar 2021.

He is Managing this fund by since 14 Feb 2022.

(ii) Mr. R Srinivasan

on the other hand, Mr. R Srinivasan is also managing the SBI Multi Cap Fund since 14 Feb 2022 and also the manager of SBI Small Cap Fund.

Further, R Srinivasan joined SBI Funds Management as a Senior Fund Manager in May 2009; he is now the Head of Equity and also directly manages a number of funds.

Srinivasan is a post graduate in Commerce and has an MFM degree from the University of Mumbai. Additionally, he has worked with Principal AMC, Oppenheimer & Co, Indosuez WI Carr and Motilal Oswal.

(J) Taxability of earnings

Capital gains

  • If the mutual fund units, sold after 1 year from the date of investment, gains upto Rs 1 lakh in a financial year are exempt from tax. Gains over Rs 1 lakh are taxed at the rate of 10%.
  • If the mutual fund units are sold within 1 year from the date of investment, entire amount of gain is taxed at the rate of 15%.
  • No tax is to be paid as long as you continue to hold the units

Dividends

  • Dividends are added to the income of the investors and taxed according to their respective tax slabs. Further, if an investor’s dividend income exceeds Rs. 5,000 in a financial year, the fund house also deducts a TDS of 10% before distributing the dividend.
