(1) AUM of the Mutual Fund Industry
The mutual fund industry has crossed a milestone of 10 crore folios during the month of May 2021.
Infact, The total number of accounts (or folios as per mutual fund parlance) as on July 31, 2022 stood at 13.56 crore (135.6 million).
Whereas, the number of folios under Equity, Hybrid and Solution Oriented Schemes, wherein the maximum investment is from retail segment stood at about 10.80 crore (108 million).
According to Association of Mutual Funds in india (AMFI), The Average Assets Under Management (AAUM) of Indian Mutual Fund Industry stood at ₹ 37,76,911 crore for the month of July 2022.
(2) Mutual Funds Assets
Over the years Mutual Fund Industry has grew significantly because of various factors like Affordable Internet, Wave of Digitization, Financial Transparency and Aspirational Intertest of Building Long term wealth enhance the Mutual Fund Industry.
Well, As per Lok Sabha Data, MF industry recorded more than 1.85 cr investors in 2021. Out of Total highest customer lies in the category of 5-10 Lakh Income Slab with 61.21%.
furthermore, The ministry further said, there has been a rise in investments in mutual funds from the B-30 cities. Total AUM from B-30 cities grew by 86% from Rs 3.48 lakh crore in 2019-20 to Rs 6.46 lakh Cr in 2021-22 (till Oct 31, 21).
(3) Performance of MF India
The AUM of Indian MF industry grew 13.8% YoY to Rs 37.74 trillion for the quarter ended June. The growth in assets driven by incremental flows into equity schemes.
As per AMFI, SBI MF has the highest Average AUM. Apart from that, ICICI Overtakes HDFC by securing 2nd rank with the Average AUM of ₹ 4.65 Tn with 11.8% Growth.
So from here, every Investor can compute that the day when MF introduced In India, the Industry is grown rapidly which resulted a better option for making return.
(4) Can mutual funds be a good option?
According to a Poll Conducted, different Investors shared their different opinion regarding Investment options available in the Market. Approx. 96.62% of respondents said they will go to stocks. whereas for Mutual Funds, 82.87% have responded.
It Clearly Shows, Mutual funds are high on Indians’ priority list, which is not surprising given that their popularity has soared through the roof in the last few years.
Furthermore, the recent geopolitical issue like Covid, Russia-Ukraine war & some other domestic issues witnessed slow growth.
Where stocks were hitting and getting impacted due to direct & indirect linkage, MF Houses were still investing.
Due to their vital information and analytics Base, MF houses were identifying undervalue stocks and investing in them regularly.
(5) Mutual Funds for long-term wealth creation
Today’s Mutual Fund become most sensible investment option in comparison to other asset classes.
According to AMFI, There are almost 2500 Mutual Funds schemes, But we know it became harder to choose the right one for long term wealth creation. So here are the few schemes that investor can choose for the better returns and wealth creation.
(i) Kotak Equity Opportunities Fund
Kotak Equity Opportunities invests predominantly in a mix of large and mid cap stocks from various sectors which seem to be promising based on the performance and potential of companies within the sectors and growth pattern in the economy.
In comparison to S&P BSE Large Mid Cap TRI and Eqty Large & Mid Cap, Kotak Performed exponentially well and delivered better returns.
Kotak has given 16% trailing returns whereas S&P and Equity delivered comparatively less returns.
(ii) Kotak Small Cap
The investment objective of Kotak Small cap is to generate capital appreciation from a diversified portfolio of equity & equity related securities. The scheme predominantly invests in companies in the small cap market capitalization segment across sectors. The essence is to ‘spot them young and watch them grow’.
Here, Also Kotak did well. In comparison to S&P BSE 250 Small Cap TRI and Eqty Small Cap Kotak generated significantly higher returns.
Kotak has given 16% trailing returns whereas S&P and Equity delivered comparatively less returns.
(iii) Canara Robeco Small Cap Fund
The fund has 93.03% investment in domestic equities of which 2.42% is in Large Cap stocks, 16.16% is in Mid Cap stocks, 56.64% in Small Cap stocks.
In comparison to S&P BSE 250 Small Cap TRI, Canara also Performed well and delivered better returns.
Where Canara has given 44.5% trailing return in 3 Years, there S&P BSE 250 delivered mere 5.89% Trailing returns.
